Robin’s Yoga

The true purpose for the practice of the yoga postures (Hatha Yoga) is to promote ease, comfort and stability in our bodies and minds. Modern health science verifies that the regular practice of yoga is effective in many ways including; easing pain, improving bone density, regulating blood pressure, improving sleep, reducing arthritic pain, improving mood and healing the effects of trauma. My personal experience is that yoga has never let me down. It has been an essential source of healing for my body and mind year after year. This is what I hope to share with you.

  • A Healthy Body

In my classes you will learn to practice a style of yoga that releases tension, stiffness and pain through movement that is healing and supportive of your body, not injurious or stressful.  This is accomplished through the use of breath work, mindful alignment of the bones and joints, clear verbal cuing, posture modifications, and yoga props as needed.  My instruction is based upon my years of personal experience with yoga as well as my background in physical rehabilitation.

  • A Centered Mind

Meditation, relaxation, and mindfulness are integral to yoga practice.  Just as the condition of the body influences the mind, a balanced nervous system and calm mind result in physical well-being.  You will learn self-awareness skills that will enable you to observe where habits and patterns are preventing you from growing in health and happiness.

  • An Uplifted Heart

It is so easy to berate yourself and to only see what’s wrong!  My goal is always to create a class environment that is nurturing to your mind, body and heart.  I encourage students to practice self-compassion, non-judgement, patience - and to have a sense of humor! A forgiving attitude and light heart are know to improve health.   As you learn the yoga postures with increasing skill and refinement, the practice that is most beneficial to you will gradually and gently unfold.

Yoga for Healthy
Bones and Joints

My classes are based upon both my years of experience as a clinician in outpatient physical therapy, and as a yoga teacher who has worked through my own injuries and limitations, as well as those of hundreds of students. I have advanced certifications in Yoga Therapy, Yoga for Osteoporosis, and Yoga for Arthritis..

My yoga is centered around performing key yoga postures with precise attention to proper positioning of the spine, and correct alignment of the joints.  Postures are held for 15 to 60 seconds.   Yoga props such as straps, blocks and chairs are often used to enable students to achieve stability and ease while working vigorously in every pose! All levels of students who would like to improve their strength, posture, balance and mobility will benefit from my classes, including those new to the practice of yoga.
